Combat sports fans are in for a treat this weekend as UFC 263 is going down on Saturday, June 12. The event will take place in front of another capacity crowd and will be held at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. While most of the action is sure to be exciting, a lot of viewers will be tuning in to watch Israel Adesanya defend his UFC Middleweight Title against his challenger, Marvin Vettori.
This won’t be the first time that the two competitors will be stepping into the octagon with each other. The duo previously clashed at UFC on Fox 29 back in April 2018. The bout went the full three rounds, with Adesanya winning by split decision. However, a lot has changed since then. Adesanya is now the defending middleweight champion while Vettori hasn’t lost a fight since that loss in 2018. So, who will walk out of UFC 263 victorious? BetOnline has the odds.

UFC 263 Odds: Adesanya Favored to Retain
At -264 odds, Adesanya is favored to retain his middleweight championship at UFC 263. On one hand, it shouldn’t be that surprising. After all, he’s only been defeated one time in his professional MMA career, losing to Jan Błachowicz at UFC 259 for the light heavyweight championship. We could be seeing a different Adesanya in the octagon. Losing can change how a competitor fights, whether that’s in a good or bad way. Maybe his loss to Blachowicz reminded Adesanya that he’s human and can lose, so now he has to find a way to reassert his dominance in the middleweight division.
Fortunately for Adesanya, he has history on his side. As mentioned before, he defeated Vettori by decision back in 2018. Even though a lot has changed, history can repeat itself. There was a reason why Adesanya won in their first fight and he can do it again. Right now, it’s looking like it’ll be by decision, as that’s what BetOnline is favoring at +150 odds. Nevertheless, four of Adesanya’s last six fights have gone the distance. If anyone has the endurance to do it again at UFC 263, it’s him.
Can Vettori Pull Off the Upset?
As mentioned earlier, losses can change the trajectory of a fighter’s career both positively and negatively. Fortunately for Vettori, losing to Adesanya in 2018 has sent him on a five-match winning streak. Four of those five victories have been by unanimous decision, with his most recent coming against Kevin Holland in April of this year. Few fighters have as much momentum as Vettori has and he’ll be looking to pull off the upset win at UFC 263.
According to BetOnline, Vettori’s best shot at beating Adesanya will be by decision at +400 odds. At the end of the day, the champion just hasn’t been knocked out or submitted in his career. While Vettori does have two career knockouts and nine submission victories, it’s just hard to imagine Adesanya succumbing to either situation. That’s not to say that neither can happen at UFC 263. It’s just that Vettori’s most likely chance at success will be to go the distance and outfight Adesanya.
