Every once in a while, we are going to cover some of the legendary hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. We’ll also include some interesting facts about them that made them popular in the first place. The first stop — The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod.
Located way up north on the Strip, this facility has been the favorite of many visitors. It is visible from almost every part of Las Vegas due to a 1,149 ft high structure that has the iconic “needle” at the top of it which is alone 148 ft high.
Before it became the STRAT (the Stratosphere) this site was the home of a casino called Vegas World which was owned by Bob Stupak. It was the tallest building in the entire state of Nevada back in 1996. The venue struggled for some time to attract visitors, but all of that changed a couple of years ago when Golden Entertainment bought it. Right now, it is one of the most attractive casinos and hotels in Vegas, and here are some of the reasons why people love dropping by.
A Fantastic Taphouse
A taphouse called BLVD & MAIN Taphouse is one of the best places in Vegas to get a beer and can take up to 200 people. The name stems from the fact that the STRAT is located on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and South Main Street. Apart from beer, the place also has a sports bar, several big TVs, cool tables. Most importantly, it is located right next to a sportsbook, so sports and sports betting fans can have the time of their lives.
The Casino Floor
The casino floor now takes approximately 80,000 ft, and it will be remodeled and expanded by the end of the year to add more open space in it. What is really interesting is that it will get an excellent ceiling design that will feature “the stars, the Sun, and the sky.” The casino also features a high-limit lounge with 44 popular games such as Buffalo Diamond, Grand Buffalo, and more. Needless to say, there are a lot of other slots, table & card games in the casino!
SkyJump
Perhaps one of the biggest attractions is the so-called SkyJump. All you have to do is get to the top of the tower and make the biggest jump in the world — if you dare, that is. SkyJump is, undoubtedly, one of the biggest attractions of this facility. However, not many people have the guts to try it.
The Restaurant at the Top of the World
If you are not brave enough to go SkyJumping, you could always visit the restaurant that is located at the top of the tower, somewhere in the clouds. The way to get to it is to get in a high-speed elevator (21 mph) and go straight up. Apart from great meals and extraordinary wine, there’s a great view of the entire city. A little tip — make sure to go there at night!
The Observation Deck
Finally, you don’t have to go to a restaurant to take a good look at the city, as the tower offers an incredible observation deck which is, perhaps, the biggest attraction of the building. If you want to make adrenaline flowing through your body, you can take a couple of rides offered there.
However, if you don’t want to experience that (which is entirely understandable), you can always look at the interactive maps and have a great time viewing Las Vegas and taking pictures of this magnificent sight.
