It is not uncommon for an online poker series to pop up more often than not these days due to the coronavirus. Online poker gaming is quite popular now due to the inability to travel to casinos and play in land-based poker events. For the World Poker Tour, the brand had to reschedule and outright cancel events recently due to the virus. Now, it seems the WPT is taking advantage of online gaming options by working with partypoker in New Jersey to offer the first-ever WPT Online Borgata Series.
New Series Coming in September
From September 13 to the 21, the WPT Online Borgata Series will take place, featuring several events. Players in New Jersey can take part and there will be over $275,000 in prize pool guarantees up for grabs. The top event of the series will be the WPT Online Borgata Series Main Event, which will have a buy-in of $1,060 and start on the 20th. Once the final table is reached, the action will be live-streamed. This will take place on the 21st.
Online poker players in New Jersey will be able to take part, with the partypoker US Network providing access to the events. Three premier brands will be showcased during this special series, the World Poker Tour, the partypoker US Network and the Borgata Poker Open. The Borgata Poker Open is a big live event that takes place each year in Atlantic City but this year will be an online approach.
Players can log in to the network and qualify for as little as $5, making the $1,060 buy-in much more affordable. Each day, the network will offer the lower qualifiers that seed into the $45 and $215 satellites to the main event.
Players can also choose to phase into the main event for a $109 buy-in. The phase is a little bit different than the satellite. With Phase 1, players are entered into a target event with the chip stack they had at the end of the tournament. In satellites, players start with the same size chip stack.
To take part, players will need to log into the Borgata Poker site, NJ partypoker or BetMGM poker. Each are connected to the partypoker US Network.
Starting off with a Bang
The new series will start off with a bang, with the kick-off event being the Sunday $100k No Limit Hold’em event. This tournament has a buy-in of $215. Tournaments will continue throughout the schedule, offering something for everyone, including varying buy-ins and formats.
One of the most anticipated events should be the WPT Online Borgata Series Heads Up tournament on the 19th. This event has a buy-in of $535. Only 32 players can compete so registration will need to be complete dquickly.
Players can register by the 16th to take part and those that do so will be given the $35 registration fee back just for taking part in the event.
This new series is sure to be a popular one on the partypoker US Network in New Jersey. We will stay tuned to all the details and report on exciting events as they happen!
