Competing in the Main Event is what most players think about when they are playing in a major online tournament series. While there are plenty of events to explore, a Main Event offers a ton of prizes plus prestige if you manage to finish at the final table. Many online poker operators will offer up satellites or qualifiers so players can earn a seat to the Main Event at a much lower price point. At partypoker, the brand is getting ready to host its MILLIONS Online Main Event and this week, is providing plenty of ways for players to earn a spot in the tournament.
Qualify for $0.01
The buy-in to the MILLIONS Online Main Event costs a whopping $5,300. If you are like most people, you do not have the funds to cover such a large buy-in. And of course, partypoker understands that. They have decided to offer satellites in phases so that players can compete starting at just one penny.
The satellites will run for the entire week at the online poker room and they will continue through late registration. The penny option is the cheapest route to the event. The penny option is a Main Event 1B Centroll. These are running frequently at the stie ad provide the top finishers with entries into the $5.50 Mega Phase 1 satellite.
With the Phase 1 option, you are given 10,000 in starting chips and compete until 10% of the player pool remains. You then move on to Phase 2. The direct buy-in to Phase 2 is $55. This event takes place the same, narrowing down to the final 10%.
Players from Phase 2 move on to the final phase of the satellite competition. The direct buy-in to this phase is $530. With this phase, the top 5 are given $5,300 MILLIONS Online Day 1B seats. Players can compete this week to earn a spot in the final Mega Satellite Final Phase on February 28. Last week’s event provided 57 seats.
Additional Satellites
The Phased satellites are just one way that players can compete in the MILLIONS Online. The site is also offering traditional satellites for the Main Event with $530 buy-in. There are several taking place on February 28. Each offers three, five, 10, or 20 seats to the Main Event.
Partypoker is also offering phased satellites for the Mini Main which comes at a much lower price point than the regular Main Event. There is the same Centroll option followed by Phase 1 with a $1.10 buy-in the Phase 2 with an $11 buy-in and the final, which has a $109 buy-in.
It would not be surprising to see more players competing in the Mini satellites as they offer the lower buy-in amount.
We shall see by next week just how many players competed in both events. It should be the largest turnout the series sees due to the Main Event being so popular among online poker players. We could see the big events easily surpass their large guaranteed prize pools!
