This coming Sunday, Ignition Poker is hosting a “Biggest Payday Yet” tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000. Satellites are running throughout the week to qualify as many players as possible into the event, and there is also a two-stage Sit & Go satellite program operating around the clock.
Strictly speaking, the “Biggest Payday Yet” tournament is actually Ignition Poker´s joint biggest payday event – the site hosted a similar tournament to coincide with the Super Bowl at the beginning of February. Nonetheless, the event is a welcome addition to this weekend´s calendar, particularly as the short notice for the event means there is less time to qualify and more likelihood of an overlay.
The tournament gets underway on Sunday at 5:00pm (All times ET) and has a direct buy-in of $300 + $25. You can win seats in the event via a rich variety of satellites or a two-stage Sit & Go satellite program. It is also possible to exchange any Player Points you have for tournament entry tickets. You can use the ticket exchange facility to enter any satellite qualifier or the target event itself.
Why it is Better to Qualify Early
Typically, when a poker site announces a big poker tournament, many players make a mental note about the date and don´t think about qualifying for the tournament until it is almost upon them. Last-minute satellites into the event are consequently packed; and, although this often results in additional seats being added to the prize pool, it extends the length of time it takes for each satellite to play.
Players who think ahead, and take advantage of satellites running days before the target event, have the opportunity to qualify in less time. There is also more chance of an overlay in early satellites; and, when the target event starts, players who have qualified early are much fresher then players who have just endured a grueling four or five hour last-minute satellite. It actually makes quite a lot of sense.
The Biggest Payday Satellite Schedule
Buy-ins for the scheduled satellites into the Biggest Payday Yet tournament start at $7.70. These “Cheap Seats” satellites are played nightly until Saturday at 7:00pm and there will be an additional “Cheap Seats” satellite on Sunday at 12:30pm. Other qualification routes include:
- An $11.00 buy-in satellite at 6:00pm on weekdays and at 3:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- A $22.00 buy-in satellite at 11:30pm on weekdays and at 6:00pm on Saturday.
- A $44.00 buy-in satellite at 9:00pm Monday to Saturday and at 2:30pm on Sunday.
Each of these satellites offers a different number of guaranteed seats into the Biggest Payday Yet tournament. Please note that if you win a seat in the target event, it is a “must-play” tournament. There is no opportunity to exchange your seat for tournament dollars or play in a different tournament (because so few tournaments at Ignition Poker have buy-ins of $300 + $25).
The Two-Stage Sit & Go Satellite Program
The two-stage Sit & Go satellite program gives players an alternate route into the Biggest Payday Yet tournament. The 6-Max “Winner Takes All” games have an entry level of $11.00, or you can buy-in directly to the upper level for $60.00. Unfortunately, upper level games rarely start this far in advance of a big tournament; so, although you might find first-stage games running in the Sit & Go lobby, you may have to wait several days before you can convert a winning first-stage ticket into a second stage game.
Despite the short notice of the Biggest Payday Yet tournament, the event is sure to be popular. Make sure you secure your seat in the target event at the earliest possible opportunity in order to give yourself the best opportunity of a deep run.
