Poker players should be excited for December 25th for two reasons. One, its’ Christmas! Two, it’s the day that the PokerStars Winter Series will begin. The online poker site is set to kick off on the 25th and will offer three weeks of poker gaming, concluding on January 13th. Players will be able to compete in several events with $50 million in guaranteed prize money up for grabs.
Three Tiers of Buy-ins
Like other major poker festivals by PokerStars, the Winter Series will offer players three tiers of buy-ins. There will be a Low, Medium and High option. This makes the events affordable for everyone. Players can choose to play in any of the levels, even mixing it up based on the tournament.
The Winter Series will offer a nice variety of formats with something for everyone, including many variants. Buy-ins will start on the low end at $5.50 and go as high as $10,300 for the High tier events. In total, the series will offer 242 tournaments across 82 events, based on the three tiers.
A Few Events
Because the schedule is so large, we thought we would cover a few events. One to consider entering is the tournament set for December 29th. This is a Sunday Million which will have a buy-in of $215 when it is usually $109. However, the higher buy-in will see a boosted guarantee of $3 million!
On January 13th, players will find the Main Events on the schedule. Players can choose to participate in this big event in the low, mid or high level. Combined, the three levels will offer $4.5 million in total prize money.
The schedule is filled with all types of events, in various formats and poker variants, with literally something for everyone. Players can easily take a break from the holiday celebrations to play in any tournament they like. The full schedule lists each event and its low, mid and high level, making it easy for players to compare which event they want to compete in.
Satellite Options
Like many big events from PokerStars, there will be satellites available. Players can take part in satellites via Spin & Go’s to earn seats to Winter Series events. The Spin & Go’s will have a buy-in of $4 or $40 to enter. They will pay out cash and Winter Series tickets. Players can even win a seat to the Main Event on the high level worth $5,200.
The Spin & Go’s are also featured on a special leaderboard challenge. Players who take part in the satellites can compete for a piece of $20,000 in prizes.
Standard satellites will also be on offer with low buy-ins of $2.20. This amount gets you into the $5,200 Winter Series Main Event satellite while less than $1 can get you access to the Sunday Million offering the $3 million prize. Just win a satellite to earn the seat!
The Winter Series will kick off next week and should be a huge draw for players of PokerStars. We shall see how big the turnout is in the coming weeks and if those guaranteed prize pools will be met and perhaps boosted even more!
