Poker players will be excited to hear that PokerStars has just unveiled a first look at the upcoming 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). The series will be massive this year, offering up a total $85 million in prize money. This is $5 million more than 2019 and reaches new heights for the brand.
The first events will begin on April 30th. The series will run through May 19th, offering a ton of value. The schedule has yet to be fully locked in, but we do know that over 80 events will be on the table. The events will be split into three categories, Low, Medium and High. Players will be able to compete in any of the buy-in categories, making it easy to find a tournament that is affordable. With the three buy-in levels, there should be at least 240 tournaments taking place.
The Main Event details have been provided by PokerStars, with a combined $13 million on offer across the three categories. The Low option will have a buy-in of $109 with $3 million up for grabs. The Medium tier will have a much larger $1,050 buy-in and have a $5 million guaranteed prize pool. The High tier will have a $10,300 buy-in and include a $5 million prize pool as well.
Extra Action
The SCOOP is also going to offer extra action via special offers. Players can take part in Freerolls, with a $5,000 Second Chance Freeroll running every day. Players will qualify for this event by simply busting out of an SCOOP tournament without winning any money.
The Sunday Storm Anniversary event that is coming up will offer 50,000 tickets to a special freeroll for the SCOOP where players can win seats to the Medium Main Event.
On top of that, the online poker room is also offering a Player of the Series Leaderboard. The leaderboard will track players based on their participation in the series as well as their success. According to a press release, the first half of the SCOOP will be prizes on the leaderboard being tickets to upcoming events. During the second half, players will be earning cash prizes.
PokerStars will also be hosting special Spin & Gos during the series. Players can take part in the Spin & Gos to earn tickets to SCOOP events. The Spin & Gos will have low buy-ins of $0.75, $3 and $22 with cash prizes provided along with tickets to events! The Spin & Gos will be a secondary qualifying option along with satellites and qualifiers.
We expect the full schedule to be dropped by PokerStars in the near future. There is only a short time before the SCOOP will be underway and players will be ready for it due to being stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
As soon as the schedule is released, we will provide more details on event highlights as well as any other information as it is provided.
