While the year has only just begun, poker players are looking ahead to the much-anticipated PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship (PSPC). The event will take place in Barcelona, Spain in August and already players can vie for prize packages to the event via Platinum Passes by taking part in various events. Now, we have learned that PokerStars is also offering satellites and qualifiers so players can earn a spot directly from the site!
Earn a Spot
From now until May, players will find six online qualifiers running at PokerStars, offering up one PSPC package each. The package includes the buy-in to the event as well as six nights hotel accommodations at a 5-star hotel, cash for expenses and customized merch.
Players can buy-in directly to the six online qualifiers by paying the €1050 buy-in. This is a pretty steep amount, so the online poker room has made it easier to qualify by offering satellites starting at just €0.55. The lower buy-in options will run several times a day.
The first of the six online qualifiers took place on February 16th and saw 57 players taking part. Because the prize pool was €57,000, two packages were up for grabs. The third and fourth place finishers earned a cash payout.
The next online qualifier will take place on March 1st and players can by in directly or use the satellites to work their way into the event. Players will find that PokerStars is even offering up a freebuys option, with each offering one seat to the €55 buy-in qualifier. This event has an add-on or re-buy for €0.11.
The freebuys will run on February 29th and March 1st. For the PSPC qualifiers, two are scheduled for April and the final two will take place in May.
Additional Earning Opportunity
On top of the qualifiers and satellites, PokerStars is offering other ways to earn a seat to the PSPC. Players can choose to take part in the Platinum Madness option, where 42 Platinum Passes will be given away. The passes will be provided via the Stars Rewards Chests of the loyalty program.
To take part, players need to opt-in to the Platinum Madness Challenge. This can be done via the Challenges Window which can be found in the Main Lobby. Players will then need to take part in real money games and win Chests which offer dice rolls. Once the dice is rolled, then the player moves a number of spaces and earn prizes based on the Chests they earn.
Chests can include a Platinum Pass at random. Players have until March 1st to complete the challenge and try to earn one of the Platinum Passes.
As the PSPC comes closer to starting, we should see more players earning the Platinum Passes and packages. With so many packages being offered by PokerStars and the buzz surrounding the event, it is sure to be a huge offering that both amateurs and professionals take advantage of!
