As crazy as it sounds, the PokerStars Sunday Million is 15 years old this year. To celebrate the big milestone, the online poker room has decided to host a Sunday Million 15th Anniversary special. The event will take place on March 21 and include a $12.5 million prize pool guarantee. Top finishers will earn a huge payday with the first and second-place winner earning at least $1 million.
Compete in Satellites and Qualifiers for Cheap
The buy-in to the special event is $215 instead of the usual $109. If you can’t swing the full buy-in, PokerStars is offering plenty of ways to earn a seat. First, there are satellites and feeders. The lobby already offers qualifiers running at a super low cost, so players can easily compete for a spot in the big event.
Direct qualifiers have a low buy-in of $2.20 but the lower buy-in events will not offer as many tickets to the special Sunday Million. Mega Satellites are running too, and the buy-in range for these events is $5.50 to $55. Each level will offer a certain percentage of seats. Many players may opt for the affordable $22 buy-in level as it provides 100 seats in some instances.
PokerStars also has feeder events to the direct satellites and buy-ins are even lower, at $1.10. At that price point, it’s easy to get started.
Another option offered is the Spin & Go. There are Special Editions running that have buy-ins of $4 and $22. In the $4 version, players have a chance to win a ticket to the event, $1 million, a $11 or $22 satellite ticket or $8 in cash.
If you try the $22 edition, there is an opportunity to win a ticket to the event or $1 million in cash. A $55 satellite ticket is up for grabs along with $40 in cash. In each Spin & Go edition, the runners-up at the table where the $1 million prize is won will earn $100,000.
The last way to a Sunday Million Anniversary ticket is the Ticket Machine. Until March 21, players can opt in to this challenge and earn as many as five tickets for a drawing to win tickets to begin competing for a seat in the big event.
To earn a ticket, players must compete in 250 hands of cash/zoom games, play in seven Spin/Sit & Go events, or knockout a player in a multi-table tournament. For each of these actions, players win one entry.
Watch Out for Special Events
If you are a member of PokerStars, be sure to keep an eye out for special events. This past Sunday, the site offered a special satellite with a $1 entry. The satellite was themed after Neymar Jr. and offered the top 100 finishers a seat into the event.
