For years, the PokerStars brand has offered an annual series known as the Championship of Online Poker. They offer it internationally as well as in New Jersey and just last year in Pennsylvania. The series is popular among players because it offers low buy-ins, quality structure and nice prize pools. The brand just announced the Pennsylvania version is going to take place this month, with a starting date of September 19. Players can soon take part in the PACOOP, with many options to be added to the schedule.
Coming Soon
The PACOOP will begin on September 19 and continue for two weeks, ending on October 5. The full schedule of the series has not been revealed at this time, but news reports suggest that players will be competing for total prize pool guarantees of around $2 million.
This is a nice chunk of change and yet another way that PokerStars PA players can take advantage of big action from home. The PACOOP offers plenty of tournaments at varying times, so players can log in based on their availability and take part.
Last year, the first PACOOP took place in November. It offered just over $1.2 million in total prize money and so many players competed, that the prize pool increased to $1.55 million. During the series, players had access to 50 events that ran from the end of November through December 16.
New Jersey will also offer its own version of the Championship of Online Poker, but dates have not been provided at this time. We expect it will run around the same time as the championship in Pennsylvania. It will be interesting to compare the schedule as PokerStars has been known to offer higher prize guarantees in PA than in NJ.
Continued Offers
At PokerStars, both states have access to continued offers as the site looks to offer something for everyone as players are spending more time at home. Casinos were closed for quite some time in both states, which led to more traffic at online poker sites in the respective states.
Players are still logging on in high numbers at PokerStars and hopefully this trend will continue. Many players are still being cautious about the coronavirus pandemic and choose to play from home rather than try to visit a casino, where at the moment has limited capacity and amenities.
One option players can access at PokerStars in both states is the Vault. This option offers $200,000 in total prize money. In Pennsylvania, the bulk of the money is on offer at $175,000. Players in New Jersey are competing for $40,000.
To take part, players must opt-in and play real money games to earn chests. Each chest of the site will have a three digit combination that can unlock a chest. Players can unlock the chests and earn special prizes from the site, including prizes of $15,000!
We expect in the coming days, that PokerStars will provide the exact schedule for Pennsylvania when it comes to the PACOOP and also provide details into the version offered in New Jersey.
