A total of 66 players entered “The Cage” at the Winning Poker Network (WPN) last night, making the game’s debut a monumental success.
Combining tournament and ring game action into one by putting a three-hour time limit on a cash game that featured escalating blinds and a starting stack of $5,000 for each player turned out to be a novel concept that will result in a running of The Cage II. The 66 entrants competed for $330,000 that was spread out over 6-max tables yesterday, with ‘bik6624235‘ crowned the King of The Cage by winning $29,947.
Second place went to ‘UpayformyKia‘, who managed to win more than three times the entry fee of $5,100 by finishing play with $20,921. He can likely pay off that Kia, if he hasn’t done so already, after netting $15,821.
Of the 66 entrants, 39 still had chips in front of them when the time clock reached 0:00. That calculates to 41% of the field forced to leave The Cage, while 59% of the participants will see cash credited to their accounts. Not all of those were winners, however, as the player in 39th place finished with $1,297.
Those 39 players, whether they logged on via WPN flagship skin Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker, BookMaker, YaPoker or True Poker, are in line to receive a bank wire at no charge. WPN included that benefit to all players who cashed in the inaugural running of The Cage.
Americas Cardroom Leads the Way at WPN
As the top poker room at WPN, Americas Cardroom enjoys a large player base that has allowed the U.S.-friendly network to hold down the fourth spot in player traffic among poker sites and networks that cater to the U.S. market. Players who call Americas Cardroom their online poker home are enticed by various promotions that pay out bonus cash.
The first of those promos is a generous welcome bonus of 100% up to $1,000 to new players who create an account and make a deposit. Those players who do can rest assured that their money is safe and that withdrawal requests and speed of cashouts is among the best in the online poker industry.
Other promos that Americas Cardroom players have been known to enjoy are “The Beast” and “Sit & Crush.” Those weekly leaderboard races are designed for both cash game and sitngo players, respectively.
When is The Cage II?
Players who missed out on The Cage yesterday needn’t worry. The Cage II is now available for signup and will be hosted on November 12. The structure of the event, which calls for no re-buys, will likely be the same as the first.
Also the same is the fact that Americas Cardroom will host an assortment of satellites for players to gain entry to the next version of The Cage for a mere percentage of the $5,100 entry fee. Players unfamiliar with Americas Cardroom are invited to check out our review of the poker room, which gives an honest assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of playing there.
