It has been confirmed that the Winning Poker Network’s August OSS Cub3d tournaments will take place between August 5th and September 2nd following the conclusion of a hugely successful and – importantly for the Network – eventless Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS) last night.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about the [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/boss-satellites-now-live-on-winning-poker-network-sites/”]pick of the BOSS satellite routes[/geolink]. In the article I explained the Bigger Online Super Series had been scheduled as a standalone event in order to ensure a major series could be run on the Network without the action being disrupted by DDoS attacks.
The Network has not revealed whether attempts were made to disrupt the BOSS series last week, or – if they were – how the attacks were mitigated. However, all twenty-seven events went ahead and concluded without apparent incident – giving the Network the confidence to give the green light to its proposed August OSS Cub3d tournament series.
BOSS was More Successful than Hoped
Last week´s Bigger Online Super Series consisted of twenty-six high buy-in tournaments and a $5,000 buy-in Cage event. All but four of the tournaments reached their guarantees – resulting in total overlays of $50,300 – while the other twenty-two tournaments paid a total of $270,600 more than their guaranteed prize pools, bringing the total paid out during the series to $3,280,600.
The biggest winner of the week was Shawn “CreateMyOwnEnergy” Kjetland, who took down the $1 million BOSS Main Event for $200,000. Kjetland fought off a strong field of 494 players to take down the first prize ahead several former Million Dollar Sunday winners including Helio “theKKingAA” Neves and Corey “A1phad0ggg” Kennel.
OSS Cub3d Will Award More than $10 Million
August´s OSS Cub3d tournament series follows the standard pattern of a Mini-series (as in generally mini buy-ins), followed by the Network´s flagship Online Super Series, and followed by another BOSS series. As with last March´s OSS Cub3d series, there are no breaks between the three series – which will between them consist of 169 events guaranteeing more than $10 million in prize money.
Three million dollar guaranteed tournaments are scheduled during the series – the OSS Main Event on 26th August (buy-in $265), the BOSS Main Event on 2nd September (buy-in $2,100) and a special edition Million Dollar Sunday also on 2nd September (buy-in $540). In total over the four weeks of action, there will twenty-nine events with guarantees of $100,000 or more, plus a $5,000 buy-in Cage event.
Promotions in Support of OSS Cub3d Already Announced
Two promotions to support the OSS Cub3d series have already been announced (we expect more will follow) – an OSS Cub3d 50% reload bonus and back-to-back-to-back leaderboard competitions.
