Americas Cardroom´s Freebuy Super Series II finished last night, with fifty-eight of the sixty free-to-enter tournaments failing to meet their guarantees.
When Americas Cardroom announced its $150,000 guaranteed Freebuy Super Series II last month, we covered the story and said it was a series that should not be missed. How right we were! Only two of the sixty events reached their guarantees, and the total amount of overlay in the free-to-enter tournaments surpassed $70,000.
The Main Event was an especially bad result for Americas Cardroom. The free-to-enter tournament that had $20.00 re-buys and a $20.00 add-on was guaranteed for $20,000. It attracted 6,594 players, but only 375 players re-bought and just 44 used the add-on option – resulting in an overlay of $11,620. Eventual winner “OMGitsWHG” collected $4,000 for his victory – $2,324 of which was in overlays!
TeXaSRoKsTaR Takes Down Player of the Series
Alongside the Freebuy Super Series II, Americas Cardroom was hosting a leaderboard competition with more than $3,000 in tournament tickets and cash prizes up for grabs. The race to be top of the leaderboard was fairly tight until Sunday, when “TeXaSRoKsTaR” final-tabled three events out of six to take an unassailable lead in the competition.
“TeXasRoKsTaR” picked up a seat in next weekend´s Million Dollar Sunday event for being Player of the Series (in which he will be hoping to run just as hot as he did last Sunday) plus $100 in cash. The next seventeen players on the leaderboard won tickets to Americas Cardroom´s “Sunday Special” and “Big 10” tournaments, plus cash prizes depending on their finishing position.
Talking of Next Weekend´s Million Dollar Sunday and Overlays … …
With just five days to go until Americas Cardroom´s next “Million Dollar Sunday” event, the site´s marketing department has started to get into gear. Last week it was announced that Josh Beckley – one of the WSOP November Niners – will be live-streaming his action during next Sunday´s event, and the “Million or Bust” Jackpot Poker promotion has just been extended to include buy-ins of $0.50, $15.00 and $30.00.
“On Demand” tournaments with buy-ins of $2.00 and $10.00 that guarantee seats into the Million Dollar Sunday have been added to the satellite schedule, and there are three mega-satellites scheduled for later this week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) offering a combined total of 200 entries into the target event. Will this be enough to prevent another massive overlay? We will know by this time next week!
