This coming April, 888poker and WPTDeepStacks are introducing a new global online poker tournament series. On April 18, players can log online and take part in three events on the global network of the provider. Italy, Spain, and Portugal will also offer the series.
Details of the Events
Each of the WPTDeepStack series has 16 events on the schedule. There will be a Main Event offered in each market and over $3 million in total prize money up for grabs across the series. The marquee Main Event will include $1 million.
The largest series will be provided by 888poker on the global network. Titled the WPTDS London Online, the series will offer over $2 million in total prize pool guarantees. Italy will offer up €350,000, while Portugal/Spain will feature €400,000 in total prize money.
The full WPTDeepStack series will run from April 18-26. The online poker room has teamed up with the World Poker Tour before but this marks the first time that they will be providing access to the WPTDeepStacks brand events.
Breakdown of events
For the London series, the Main Event will have a $1,050 buy-in. The total prize pool is $1 million, and players have four day 1s to take part in. Players can compete in satellites that start at just $0.01, making it affordable for everyone.
The satellite format for the Main Event is already available online at 888poker. There are Pennybuy qualifiers on the schedule daily, which provide tickets to the $11 sub-satellites. The Main Event satellite has a direct buy-in of $109 and provides direct tickets to the Main Event to the top finishers. Players can find more details on the series as well as satellites by logging into the 888poker client.
Games taking place in London will be streamed over a four-day time period. David Tuchman, Nick Wealthall, and Matt Savage will be featured.
The Italy and Spain/Portugal series will have a much lower Main Event buy-in. It costs only $150. But, there is only one starting flight and $150,000 in guaranteed prize money. The smaller versions of the DeepStacks will have 16 events, but with lower buy-ins and prize pool guarantees overall.
888 SVP & Head of B2C, Guy Cohen, commented on the new series, stating that 888 is delighted to be partnered with WPTDeepStacks and are excited to bring the multi-network series to its players. The tournament events will be a perfect option for players in the global markets to experience the prestigious WPTDS events online.
The new series launches in Italy, Spain, and Portugal just after the new 888poker client launched in the regions. Poker 8 went live in the countries in March and is perfectly timed for the new series. Poker 8 first went live late last year, and the provider has been working nonstop to launch the platform in its various operating regions.
The new series is sure to be embraced in all the markets offering it this April. It will be interesting to see the turnouts and just how successful 888 is with its new WPTDeepStacks partnership.
