The 2024 World Series of Poker is now live, and it’s an event that will dominate the headlines over the next several weeks. All of the action will wrap up on July 17th, and there will be a total of 99 gold bracelet events along the way.
This is the 55th annual version of the event, and all of the live tournaments are going to be held at the Horseshoe Las Vegas or the Paris Las Vegas. There will also be a large number of online tournaments as well, but the top poker players in the world will be entering the live events.
The WSOP continues to come up with new ways to improve the overall event, and that was the case with the first tournament on the schedule. The Champions Reunion No’Limit Hold’em Freezeout was the first event of the tournament, and it as one that was filled with big names.
Previous Main Event champions were given a free entry into this event, while other contenders had to pay the $5,000 buy-in. Any contender that is able to eliminate a previous champion will be given a free seat at the 2024 Main Event.
Casino employees can also get into the action on the opening day as that has been the case in recent years as well. WSOP officials are hoping to set new records in 2024, but it will be hard to top what went down a year ago.
Looking Back
It’s no secret that the WSOP continues to be the biggest live poker event in the world, and that was clearly the case a year ago. There were over 10,000 entries at the 2023 Main Event and that pushed the prize pool to more than $93 million.
Daniel Weinman will be looking for his second straight WSOP Main Event win, but he won’t be able to walk away with the same grand prize. Weinman won $12.1 million at the Main Event in 2023, but WSOP has introduced some new payout rules that will cap that number.
In order to allow for more poker action this year, WSOP officials are going to have more than 700 tables available at their disposal. 30 bracelets will be available for online players as well, and players from Michigan, Nevada, and New Jersey will be able to compete for the first time ever.
PokerGo Ready to Broadcast
PokerGO is once again going to be the main source for those that are hoping to follow along with all of the WSOP action. There will be more than 300 hours of live streaming available from PokerGO, and that is going to begin on May 30th.
Live streaming from PokerGO is available on a number of different mobile devices or tables, and the entire Main Event will be available. There is a full schedule available at PokerGO.com, but all of the biggest events will be included.
WSOP will also introduce a number of new tournaments this year, allowing for more exciting action.
