March 25 marks this season’s NBA Trade Deadline. Several times in the league will be trying to improve their odds of winning an NBA Championship. Recently, several big names have been rumored as potential trade deadline targets, including Kristaps Porzingis and Victor Oladipo.
However, those two players aren’t the only ones who could be moved before the NBA Trade Deadline. Bovada has recently listed trade odds for several players, ranging from Andre Drummond to DeMar DeRozan.
Here is a breakdown of some of the more notable players that Bovada has odds on.
Will Andre Drummond Be Traded Before Deadline?
Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 10
- No -260
- Yes + 175
Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond has been involved in trade rumors for most of the season. Just a few weeks ago, BetOnline had the Toronto Raptors as Drummond’s likeliest trade destination. It’s unclear whether or not the Raptors remain as the frontrunner, but the fact of the matter is that Drummond could still be moved before March 25. Bovada lists that possibility at +175.
With the Cavaliers near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, it doesn’t make sense to keep him unless both sides want him in Cleveland. Drummond’s cap hit this season is $28.7 million and he will become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. Any team that acquires him before the NBA trade deadline will need to consider that.
DeRozan Could Be Out of San Antonio by NBA Trade Deadline
Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 10
- No -600
- Yes +350
In the 2020-21 NBA Season, DeMar DeRozan is averaging 20.0/4.9/7.2 and is looking like one of the San Antonio Spurs’ best players. He’s also 31 years old and will likely want to capitalize on a potential big free agency payday this offseason. If that’s the case, it makes sense for the Spurs to trade him by the NBA trade deadline even if they’re in a playoff spot as of March 10.
Still, DeRozan would provide a boost to any team that acquires him. The Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers are two teams to be rumored in potential trades. If a team tries to acquire DeRozan, they’ll have to match his $27.7 million cap hit.
Is the Kyle Lowry Era Over in Toronto?
Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 10
- No -200
- Yes +150
After the Toronto Raptors had a slow start to the season, rumors circulated about a potential Kyle Lowry trade. According to reports, the Philadelphia 76ers were his preferred destination. On March 9, Lowry took to Instagram, telling his followers not to believe everything they read on the internet.
At the end of the day, Lowry has a no-trade clause, so whether he goes or stays will be up to him. The Raptors are still in a playoff spot, so if they traded him, they may only do it if they can get someone back who can contribute in their lineup right away. That’s unless the playoffs don’t matter to Toronto and they have their sights set on a rebuild.
Is Lonzo Ball an NBA Trade Deadline Target?
Odds via Bovada as of Wednesday, March 10
- No -260
- Yes +175
Former No. 2 overall pick Lonzo Ball is having a career-year in terms of points per game (14.5) and shooting splits (.428/.387/.775). The New Orleans Pelicans could also be sellers at the NBA trade deadline as they sit four games out of a playoff spot as of March 10. With that being said, Ball should have some value as he’s an upcoming restricted free agent. The Pelicans also have an abundance of guards in Eric Bledsoe, JJ Redick and Kira Lewis Jr., so they should be fine should he be traded.
