The Meadowlands Racetrack is the home of the FanDuel Sportsbook of New Jersey. The property has done well in offering sports betting services and are now preparing to go one step further. An announcement was made this week that the property will soon be home to a state of the art production facility. The first and only 24-hour sports betting network, SportsGrid, has announced a new deal with the Meadowlands for a multi-year agreement in which live programming will be produced on site at the sportsbook.
New Production Facility
According to a press release from the two companies, the new agreement will see the best breed wagering content, data and talent provided via a premier retail sportsbook location. The programming details are being considered but in general, the plan is to get production started by June. The focus will be to engage fans during game days and beyond like it has never been seen before.
The network has plans to host sponsored live events as well as betting conferences onsite. Sports wagering contests will be held along with fantasy tournaments. The SportsGrid president, Louis M. Maione, stated that the company is thrilled to be working with and producing rich content with the most important sportsbook in the world.
The deal is the second portion of a two part plan set by SportsGrid. Last month, the company announced that they had signed a deal with Sportradar to have an exclusive partnership to launch a free network that runs 24 hours a day dedicated to sports betting programming.
Quality Location
Choosing to partner with FanDuel was a smart move by SportsGrid. The Meadowlands location is in a prime market, close to New York City and away from the competition of Atlantic City casinos. In Atlantic City, there are eight sportbooks and most are so close together that players can walk to and from each venue. At the Meadowlands, there is less competition and it is sure to be a driving force when it comes to sports betting traffic within the facility.
The FanDuel Sportbook is a popular destination among gamblers. FanDuel has three locations, 35 betting windows and even more self-service terminals. There are 80+ television screens to view sports games and a VIP area.
The live programming from the SportGrid studio will provide even more to the overall sports betting experience of the property. The option will be yet another offering that FanDuel has above the rest when it comes to sports betting in New Jersey.
It will be interesting to see how the new studio gets started at the Meadowlands and if they will be ready to go by late June. The option is an exciting one and as a first of its kind, other operators and producers will be watching to see how well the content is received.
If the studio does well, it would not be surprising to find other similar deals across the United States as more individual states begin to legalize sports betting.
