The Super High Roller Bowl IX is still in full swing in Cyprus, and Thursday’s NL Hold’em Mystery Bounty 6-Max main event saw Adrian Mateos beat poker heavyweights Phil Ivey and Quan Zhou in a thrilling 3-Way All-In play. Mateos is the current GPI Player of the Year leader and won against Ivey heads-up, with the latter settling for a second-place $113,000 finish.
However, while Mateos was the one who lifted the trophy in the $25K Super High Roller Series Mystery Bounty after a night of amazing hands, Ivey had the biggest winning weekend so far. Ivey was able to land the two biggest bounties of the tournaments he competed in, and his $200K and $100K purse adding up his total cash for the day a cool $413,000.
Three-Way All-In Hand Result
Thursday’s NL Hold’em Mystery Bounty 6-Max main event saw the following players engage in high-level poker: current GPI Player of the Year leader Adrian Mateos, 11-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey, recent SHRB Series event no. 2 champion Quan Zhou, World Poker Tour champion Seth Davies, bracelet winner Sam Greenwood, and Sorel Mizzi.
The deciding round was between Mateos, Ivey, and Zhou. Zhou initiated the play by shoving on the button with his A-6 hand. Mateos proceeded to re-shove with his suited A-10. Ivey made the call with his K-4. Ivey initially had the lead on the flop, but Mateos’ hand eventually landed a flush draw on the turn and soundly defeated Zhou and Ivey in one fell swoop.

With his win, Mateos has managed to land his third top three finish in the Super High Roller Series through the first six events. According to The Hendon Mob, Mateos’ lifetime live tournament cashes is no just under $50 million. To date, Mateos has already locked up his biggest winning year of his career, in cashes, with over $10 million in total cashes.
Previous Super High Roller Series winners include Masashi Oya (Event #4), and Maksim Vaskresenski (Event #5) also collected recent Super High Roller Series titles, joining Roman Hrabec (Event #1), Zhou (Event #2), and Maher Nouira (Event #3).
Moreover, Mateos’ victory in this event now has 420 Card Player Player of the Year points and 194 PokerGO Tour points. His third title and 17th final-table finish for this event currently has him with 8,784 points, making him the clear leader in the 2024 POY race presented by Global Poker. David Coleman is in second place with 7,220 points. Mateos also climbed to sixth place in the PGT standings with this win.
That said, Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey is also having a strong showing in tournaments this year. Ivey moved up into second place all time with 11 WSOP bracelets this summer, and is behind Mateos with over $46 million in career cashes. Ivey scored the two biggest mystery bounties on Thursday — $200,000 and $100,000 — one of which was valued at more than Mateos received for the first place prize.
Friday sees players compete in the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl IX.
