Masters Tournament Odds: Jon Rahm Early Favorite to Win in 2022

While it’s been less than a week since Hideki Matsuyama won the 2021 Masters Tournament, it doesn’t mean that it’s too early to start looking towards next year’s event. After all, the Masters Tournament is one of the most popular events in all sports and some bettors like to get in on the action a little be earlier than most.

BetOnline released odds on the 2022 Masters and Jon Rahm is being favored to win it all at +1000. He’s never won the tournament before, but he’s had several impressive showings each time that he’s competed at the Augusta National. In the five times that Rahm has competed in the Masters Tournament, he’s finished in the top-10 four times.

Rahm finished tied for 5th at the 2021 Masters, shooting a -6 by the end of the tournament. Overall, he’s yet to win an event on the 2021 PGA Tour. Nevertheless, he still has eight top-10 finishes in 12 events, so he’s getting close.

With that being said, here’s a look at some of the other golfers who have good odds to win the 2022 Masters Tournament.

Good Odds for Johnson Despite Recent Play

Despite Dustin Johnson’s recent play, BetOnline has still given him second-best odds (+1100) to win next year’s Masters Tournament. He’s a former winner, having already won the delayed Masters that took place in November 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, since he won the tournament, Johnson hasn’t had the best of luck.

Here’s a look at Johnson’s last six tournament finish since the 2020 Masters:

  • Sentry Tournament of Champions: T-11th
  • The Genesis Invitational: T-8th
  • WGC-Workday Championship: T-54th
  • THE PLAYERS Championship: T-48th
  • WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play: T-28th
  • 2021 Masters Tournament: CUT

Johnson’s 2021 PGA Tour is heading in the wrong direction. However, his getting cut at the last week’s Masters could be a fluke. After all, prior to that, he had finished in the top-10 in five straight years.

Will Matsuyama Win the Masters Tournament Again?

It was a pretty big shock when Hideki Matsuyama won the Masters last week. So many golfers were favored ahead of him, yet he overcame the odds to win. Now, Matsuyama has +2200 odds to win the 2022 Masters. If he’s successful, he’d become the first golfer to win the event back-to-back since Tiger Woods did it just over 15 years ago.

Matsuyama has already competed at the Masters Tournament 10 times in his career. While his win was obviously his best finish, he’s had historically good showings at Augusta. In his last seven Masters Tournaments, Matsuyama has finished in the top-15 six times. If he’s able to perform at that level in 2022, he’ll have a good shot at being a two-time Masters winner.

Will Tiger Woods Be Back for the 2022 Masters?

It’s been a long few months since Tiger Woods was involved in that awful car crash, but it seems like his recovery is going well so far. With that being said, golf fans are curious as to when he’ll return to the course. According to Bovada, Woods has +300 odds to play in next year’s Masters Tournament. Now, a lot will have to go right before then and he’ll have to recover by April 2022, but, if anyone can do it, it’s Tiger Woods. Until then, BetOnline doesn’t have odds on him to win the 2022 Masters.
