Every year, Casino Player Magazine hosts awards involving top operating casinos. In Atlantic City, the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa usually takes the top spot. However, this year, it was the Hard Rock Atlantic City that took all the honors. Having only been open just a little over a year, this is a huge accomplishment for the brand. Surprisingly enough, the Borgata slipped to the third spot, with other newcomer, the Ocean Casino Resort, taking the number two spot.
Hard Rock Recognized
Readers of Card Player Magazine voted in a number of categories, deciding that Hard Rock is truly the best of the best. The brand earned first place in several categories including players club, best spa, suites, casino, video slots, promotions, video poker and a host of other areas.
They earned second place awards for hotel rooms and comps as well as their high limit room. The company was also recognized as best hotel in the number three spot along with their craps and slot tournament selection.
A Little History
The Hard Rock Atlantic City opened in late June 2018 and has been well-received by gamblers. Previously, the casino was known as the Trump Taj Mahal and was very popular during the 1990s. Fast forward to just a few years ago and the casino was taken over by developer Carl Ichan due to a bankruptcy filing.
Ichan fought to cut benefits for employees at the venue, which resulted in his downfall. By late 2016, Ichan decided to shut down the casino and put it on the market. Soon after, Hard Rock International made the purchase and reopened the property under the famous Hard Rock branding.
This year, the Hard Rock Atlantic City has been one of the biggest earners in the region when it comes to revenues. There was doubt that when the Hard Rock and Ocean Casino opened, that it would see saturation in the market and casinos would struggle, however, that does not seem to be the case.
Obtaining the top award of Card Player Magazine as the best overall gambling venue just shows how far the property has come after turning over to the Hard Rock brand. It is a great accomplishment for the casino as well as Hard Rock International.
Ocean Casino and Borgata Honors
Voters also recognized the Ocean Casino Resort and the Borgata Casino for a stellar year. Ocean Casino was named best hotel lobby and rooms as well as best comps. They earned a second place finish for best hotel along with their VIP services, pool, race and sportsbook plus their non-smoking area. The casino was also named as the spot in Atlantic City where players feel the luckiest!
For the Borgata, the casino did slip a few spots from the previous years, but still landed at the top of the list. The casino was named best hotel, table game and poker tournaments as well as live poker and hotel. They earned second place for the best hotel lobby as well as spa.
The casino was recognized in several areas for third place including casino, pool, video slots, hotel rooms, non-smoking area and bingo, among other categories.
Atlantic City continues to be a thriving area, offering the best of the best when it comes to casino gaming, entertainment, dining, hotel stays and more. Players visiting the gambling town have a ton to see and do around every corner.
