Daniel Negreanu Wins PokerGO Tour $10K PLO Event

Daniel Negreanu, one of the most popular high-stakes poker players, recently competed and dominated the competition of Event #6 $10,100 Pot-Limit Omaha of the PokerGO Tour PLO II.

The event saw 104 entrants, and Negreanu clawed his way onto the final table. Leading into the final table, Alex Foxen was the chip leader, but throughout day 2, Negreanu was at Foxen’s heels.

The participants on the final table were playing for the largest share of a $1,040,000 prize pool at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. Negreanu’s win had him take home $265,200 on the final table, as well as his eighth career PokerGO Tour title.

The final table for the $10,100 PLO event had 6 highly competitive participants that included Negreanu and Foxen. Joining them in the table were Matthew Wantman, Jeremy Ausmus, Nick Shulman, and Nacho Barbero.

A total of 20 WSOP bracelet winners were battling for the top prize: Daniel Negreanu led the way with 7 bracelets, followed by Jeremy Ausmus with 6, Nick Shulman with 5, and Alex Foxen and Nacho Barbero with 1 apiece.

Place Player Prize Money
1 Daniel Negreanu $265,200
2 Alex Foxen $171,600
3 Matthew Wantman $119,600
4 Jeremy Ausmus $93,600
5 Nick Schulman $67,600
6 Nacho Barbero $52,000

Negreanu was out to eliminate the competition once the cards were dealt. Barbero was the first one out of the final table, which earned him a $52,000 prize. He was followed by Schulman, who busted into a 5th place run to the tune of a $67,600 prize.

Jeremy Ausmus was next on the chopping block at 4th place for a $93,600 prize, while Matthew Wantman settled for a decent $119,600 prize by ending up in 3rd place. The heads up showdown pitted Negreanu and Foxen, and even though Negreanu had the chip lead 3-1, Foxen was going to give Negreanu a run for his money.

The final hand of the match saw Foxen’s hand landing a tens-over-aces full house, after the river saw the cards flop Queen of Spades, 10 of Hearts, Queen of Hearts, Ace of Clubs, and 10 of Diamonds.

However, Negreanu’s hand was an ace and a queen that made a Queens full hand. This was enough for Negreanu to get the victory. Foxen’s run saw him land the second place prize of $171,600, while Negreanu won the $265,200 first prize.

According to The Hendon Mob, Foxen’s second place finish which landed him the $171,600 prize puts him over $33.5 million in lifetime live tournament cashes.

PLO Standings Update

With Negreanu’s win, he moves into second place on the PokerGO Tour’s 2024 leaderboard, behind Ausmus – his fourth-place finish in Event #6 kept him ahead in that race by over 500 points. Negreanu also moved up to  third place in the separate leaderboard race for the PLO Series II, behind Wantman and Isaac Haxton.

Negreanu is having a strong 2024 so far, winning his fourth high roller tournament of the year. His first big win started back in June when he ended an 11-year bracelet drought by taking down the WSOP $50,000 Poker Players Championship for $1,178,703.

Since then, the Poker Hall of Famer has bounced back in 2024 from a $2 million net loss in poker tournaments last year. Negreanu has earned three cashes, two final table appearances, and one title through six events in the current PLO series.
