PokerStars has announced a new Winter Series for online poker players in some specific locations throughout North America. This brand new Winter Series comes with a guaranteed prize pool of totaling up to $5 million, but that money will be spread out across the three festivals.
The Winter Series is going to take place from January 12-29, but the biggest events are going to take place near the end of the month. PokerStars will once again hold the popular Main Event Championships that come with a $300 buy-in and take place over a span of two days.
In addition to the Winter Series, there is also going to be a Winter Open where there will be 10 special edition watches handed out. These events are going to take place throughout the three festivals, and more information can be found on the PokerStars website.
The easiest way to win some prize money is to be at the top of the leaderboard in a series as each leader is going to get $10,000 in prize money. Other online poker sites host similar events, but PokerStars are beating everyone to the punch by having this event in January.
Three Different, But Similar Festivals
There are three festivals set to take place during this event, and the prize money is going to be split up. The “shared liquidity” festival will allow players from Michigan and New Jersey to compete for $2.25 million in prize money.
There are going to be 85 different events for players from these two states, including a $50 main mini event worth up to $50K guaranteed to the winners. The Pennsylvania festival will also have 85 events, but the guaranteed prize money is set at just $1.5 million.
Ontario is the other festival that is going to be available, and there are 120 events with a guaranteed prize money worth up to $1.7 million. Even though there are more events, it’s going to be harder to win money based on the competitors that are playing.
