888poker has been super busy as of late. The online poker brand decided to rebrand its services recently, launching a new Made to Play program and a newly designed gaming platform. To celebrate the new platform launch, the online poker site is going to host a poker series this month. The XL Winter Series will take place starting on December 10 and will run through December 22. There will be more than 30 events on the schedule and $1 million in total guaranteed prize money.
Details of the Series
The online poker room is hoping that many players will take part in the XL Winter Series. To hopefully see stacked events, the schedule has been created to suit every player. Buy-ins start at a super low $5.50, which means everyone can afford to play. On the high end, you have $109 and $250 price points, still affordable for the most part.
In total, the 11 day schedule will include 34 events. Around three to four tournaments will take place each day. For this series, the only game format offered will be No Limit Hold’em. There will be variety in the events though with plenty of progressive knockouts, deep stack and short handed events on the schedule.
Several of the larger events will be live streamed, so fans can tune in to the action from home. Commentary will be provided during the streams by David Tuchman and Nick Wealthall. Live streaming can be accessed via the Facebook and YouTube pages of 888poker.
Players can also earn a spot into the events by taking part in freerolls. On certain days during the series, freerolls will take place and offer up tickets to the XL Series. Players can also win tickets by Gift Drops that will occur at random.
Satellites are also on offer to help players earn tickets to the higher buy-in events at a lower price. Satellites start at just $0.01, which makes the option affordable for everyone.
Highly Anticipated Main Event
Of course, the Main Event of the XL Winter Series is one of the most highly anticipated events of the series. The tournament will take place on December 20 and will have a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. The buy-in is $250, the highest of the series.
This tournament will take place for the very first time in progressive knockout form. Players will be able to build money by taking out other competitors. The bounties will get larger as the event progresses which provides even more earning potential.
On top of the traditional Main Event, 888poker will be offering a Mini and Micro version. Both of these events will be progressive knockouts as well. The Mini Main is a $33 event with a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. The Micro event has a smaller $5.50 buy-in and a $15,000 guaranteed prize pool.
We shall see once the series is over just how successful 888poker was with its new platform and celebratory series. It will not be surprising to see a large number of players taking part in this end of the year series!
