The 2021 Masters Tournament is attracting a lot of sports bettors this week.
It’s always fun wagering on individual tournament matchups or who’ll leave with this season’s green jacket, but those aren’t the only types of bets that bettors can wager on. With how big the Masters Tournament is, fans and bettors have a variety of props and special markets that can add more fun to the experience.
One example of a unique special market is one that BetOnline is offering has to do with which former Masters winner will perform best in the tournament.
Out of the 18 former Masters champions that will be competing in Augusta, Georgia this week, BetOnline is favoring Dustin Johnson to have the best performance at +175 odds. He’s the most recent winner, having won the 2020 event back in November after COVID-19 delayed its usual April time slot.
Other notable odds include Jordan Spieth (+250), Patrick Reed (+600) and Sergio Garcia (+900).

Will Johnson Be the Top Past Masters Winner?
As the PGA Tour built up to the 2021 Masters Tournament, Dustin Johnson’s name was just about everywhere as the favorite to win it all. As mentioned earlier, he’s the most recent winner, which makes sense as to why BetOnline favors him to finish above all other past champions.
At +175, Johnson has a good shot at finishing as the top former Masters winner. The only problem is that he’s finished poorly in his last three events since his 2020 victory at Augusta. He was supposed to compete at last week’s Valero Texas Open but ended up withdrawing to focus on training for the Masters at home.
Could Sergio Garcia Finish On Top?
A name you don’t hear talked about too often these days is Sergio Garcia (+900). The 2017 Masters winner has had a rollercoaster of a PGA Tour. While he won the Sanderson Farms Championship back in October, he’s had five finishes at 32nd or worse since then, including getting cut twice. Despite that, BetOnline is giving him a solid chance at being the best former champion at the 2021 Masters Tournament.
Garcia has also been improving in recent events. In his last two tournaments, he’s finished T-9th and T-5th respectively, indicating that he might be warming up. It’s only been four years since he’s won the Masters, so maybe a combination between experience and momentum will benefit Garcia this week.
Reed Looking to Perform Well at 2021 Masters
Patrick Reed (+600) is another recent Masters winner that’s been playing well in the 2021 PGA Tour. Out of 10 events, Reed has finished in the Top-25 seven times and even won the 2021 Farmers Insurance Open. To add to his credibility, he also finished T-10th in last year’s Masters, which could add to why he has the third-highest odds in this market.
However, since his Farmers Insurance Open win, Reed has been finishing worse one each following tournament (T-9th, CUT, T-22nd, T-28th). Golf is about momentum, so Reed will need a strong performance early on at Augusta if he wants to be the top former champion.
