Located just minutes outside of Wilmington, the Delaware Park Racetrack and Casino is one of three casinos in the state and got its start as a horse racing track back in the 1930s. Much like many historic race tracks across the United States, it has since expanded its operation to provide a bigger and better gambling experience.
While they have not adopted that Vegas-style resort look so popular with other casinos these days, Delaware Park has added plenty of attractions to their brand. So much so, in fact, that it is hard to say if Delaware Park is more casino or more race track.
Either way, legal gambling in all forms is big business in the state, and Delaware Park has moved in an attempt to capitalize on every form they possibly can.
Delaware Park Casino
The Casino at Delaware Park has expanded several times in its history and now stands as a full-up gaming floor complete with every type of classic table game, not to mention thousands of slots. To be exact, The Casino at Delaware Park makes the most of its gaming floor with over 2,500 slots, video poker, and video keno games, and over 70 gaming tables at the ready.
Games such as blackjack, roulette, craps, Match the Dealer, Spanish 21, High Card Flush, a variety of poker games, and much more are all available every day.
And for you online players out there, please note online casinos are legal in the state of Delaware and available via the Delaware Park website.
Delaware Park Sportsbook
The most recent addition to the Delaware Park and Casino is their sportsbook. Located on the second floor of the establishment, the Sportsbook at the Park offers “Vegas-Style” betting on all professional and college sports.
You can utilize their self-service betting machines or the in-person tellers all in a comfortable sportsbook with plenty of TVs and seating. All odds are up-to-the-minute, and they offer wagers on sports such as football, baseball, hockey, basketball, auto racing, golf, soccer, and boxing/MMA.
The Sportsbook at the Park also offers off-the-board lines and parlays as well as its own players reward card.
Delaware Park Racing
Of course, horse racing is where Delaware Park made its name, and they continue to this day to be one of the most important tracks in the country. Delaware Park hosts the Delaware Handicap, Delaware Oaks, Barbaro Stakes, Endine Stakes and Kent Stakes outside of all the weekly action they run as well.
They also offer simulcast racing from around the country in the Sportsbook at the Park.
Delaware Park Poker
With a casino, race track, and a sportsbook, what else do you need? Well, the Delaware Park and Casino also offers one of the best poker rooms in the nation.
These rooms stay full, with plenty of action every day of the week, with cash games and tournament play seemingly always available. Every Sunday, there is a very popular $65 buy-in Texas Hold ’em tournament at noon.
Not only are there weekly tournaments, but also daily promotions offering cash rewards and drawings. Their poker room attracts the best players, so be sure to bring your A-game.
Delaware Park Restaurants
The Delaware Park and Casino may not be a resort, but their dining options are good enough to rival any of them. From high-end establishments offering Prime Rib to casual eateries for a nice lunch, there are over 10 total restaurants on-site plus several bars, as drinking is not allowed on the gaming floor.
The Sportsbook at the Park has some of the best deals and makes the experience that much better. Have a meal, enjoy a beer, place a bet, watch the game.
Delaware Park Golf
The White Clay Creek Country Club is a premier 18-hole golf course located at Delaware Park. This 7,007-yard course was designed by Arthur Hills & Steve Forrest and is not easy.
Water comes into play on all 18 holes of this par-72 masterpiece, and you will pay for errant shots. With all that goes on at Delaware Park, the White Clay Creek Country Club may be their best-kept secret.
Banquets at Delaware Park
The Delaware Park and Casino is a very scenic place making it perfect for banquets of all kinds. From weddings to corporate retreats, Delaware Park provides excellent catering and service in their event space.
Indoors or outdoors, they can host parties of 20 to 200 people, all in a picturesque setting with plenty of exciting amenities.
Overall Review
The Delaware Park and Casino has come a long way over the years, and kudos to them for keeping up with the ever-changing times. These guys have rolled with the punches and continue to move forward with new gambling options and innovations.
The track is the mainstay, but everything they’ve built around it is top-quality. While they don’t offer much flash, they do provide substance and look no further than their casino floor and poker rooms for the proof.
This is high-level gaming, and it’s much appreciated. Blackjack players, golfers, poker players, and sports gamblers all love the action and the odds Delaware Park provides, and we couldn’t be happier with what they’ve built and accomplished.
