The Poker Players Alliance has announced that its back in business under the rebranded name of Poker Alliance. The organization also found a new backer in Poker Central, eliminating the need to beg for donations from poker players who often questioned whose best interests were being served.
Standalone bills to regulate online poker at the federal level haven't gained much support over the years. Texas Rep. Joe Barton tried numerous times to push legislation through to no avail. So Barton has a new strategy - combining poker with a bill designed to oversee the horse racing industry.
Lawmakers in the state of New York concluded the 2018 legislative session without passing an online poker bill, despite beginning the year as one of the states favored to pass i-poker regulations. Unless a special session is called, New Yorkers will once again have to wait until next year.
