NBA Nearing Deal With Walt Disney Company

The National Basketball Association was the first major league to shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, and they have been unable to restart their season. Commissioner Adam Silver has been working hard to create a plan to return to action, and it appears that he is getting close.

Silver and other top NBA executives are looking to create a campus-like atmosphere to finish the remainder of the regular season, and they have narrowed down their search. According to league sources, the NBA is nearing a deal with The Walt Disney Company to move the entire league to the resort.

The ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Disney Resorts is the perfect solution to finish out the rest of the NBA season, and it appears that the players are on board as well. There are still several other issues that need to get ironed out, but finding a place to play all of the games is a huge first step.

Not only will all of the games take place at the Wide World of Sports Complex, but all players and team personnel would also be housed at the facility. Practices would take place at the site, and all of the eating would be done there as well.

One of the biggest advantages of choosing this complex to finish out the season is that outside guests will not have access to the resort. The entire NBA would be gathered at the Wide World of Sports Complex, and they would not be allowed to leave for the remainder of the season.

The NBA Board of Governors is set to meet on Friday to discuss more plans and provide teams with return-to-play details. Teams are expected to begin calling their players back to their home markets on June 1.

It is unclear if the league is planning on finishing out the rest of the regular season schedule, or heading straight into the playoffs. It is expected that all teams will report to the complex, and they will all compete in some capacity.
