As 2020 begins, so does the next chapter of the World Series of Poker Circuit. After a successful 2019 portion of the season, players ready to dive into the 2020 section. This week, the Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California will be hosting the stop, from January 9th through January 20th.
Opening Events
The WSOPC stop at Thunder Valley will kick off with Event #1, The Opener. The No Limit Hold’em tournament has a buy-in of $400 and will offer a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool. Players are given 15,000 in starting chips and there are five starting flights. Players can choose to re-enter in the hopes of making it to the next round if eliminated early.
The Opener will run for a few days and be followed by Event #2, the $400 Knockout on the 12th. Players are provided one opportunity for re-entry and are given 15,000 in starting chips. Bounties in this tournament are set at $100.
Most Anticipated Events
Perhaps the two most anticipated events in the WSOPC stop are the High Roller and the Main Event. Both have the largest buy-ins of the stop and will offer value as well as most likely have the highest player participation.
For the High Roller tournament, players must pay the $3,250 buy-in to compete. The event offers unlimited reentry and will give players 30,000 in starting chips. With unlimited reentry, this event could see a hefty prize pool created.
For the Main Event, players will need to post the $1,700 buy-in to compete. The tournament has two starting flights and offers 30,000 in starting chips. Flight A takes place on January 17th while Flight B is scheduled for January 18th. Day 2 will take place on January 19th and Day 3 is on the 20th.
More WSOPC Stops
Before the Thunder Valley stop of the WSOPC ends, another stop will kick off, this time in Tunica, Mississippi. The Horseshoe Tunica will be hosting the tour, providing poker gaming from January 16th to the 27th. Players can then head to the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee to compete in WSOPC action from January 30th through February 10th.
The World Series of Poker Circuit is a popular option for poker players, offering stops across the United States year-round. For the 2019/2020 season, it is the 16th season offering 35 total stops beginning back in July 2019.
The WSOP announced several changes for the season, including the Big Blind Ante being used during all stops as well as an increase in the percentage of players earning a payout, going up to around 15% from the previous 10%.
For the WSOPC, players who compete can qualify for the Global Casino Championship. Players who win a Circuit Main Event during a domestic or international stop are given a seat. Players who earn the most points during a 12-event gold ring schedule can also qualify by winning a Casino Championship.
The action is just beginning for the WSOPC and we will stay tuned to see who takes down the big events as the tour moves across the United States.
