The first-ever Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker (PACOOP) began last month and is about to come to a close. Offered via PokerStars, the PACOOP schedule includes 50 events, of which almost 40 have concluded. The series has been such a success that over $1.1 million in prize money has been generated and tons of players taking part. Below are a few highlights for those outside of Pennsylvania to have a look as to what took place during the PACOOP!
Event Highlights
During the PACOOP, several players have stood out as top competitors. A few have even secured more than one tournament win. NeolithicFarmer is one example of a player who earned two tournament wins in a fifteen-day time frame. During Event #40, the player was trying to earn a 3rd title, but was denied after going heads-up against keithsutton302.
The $200 NLHE Deep Hyper-Turbo saw the two outlast the field of 72 to reach the final round with NeolithicFarmer hoping for yet another tournament victory. However, the win would remain elusive as keithsutton302 knocked his competitor from the event, denying the 3rd win and claiming the title for his own.
For their efforts, keithsutton302 would earn $3,931.19 while NeolithicFarmer settled for the second-place prize of $2,936.58.
Event #41 was a highlight of the series, as it offered a $300 Six Max No Limit Hold’em event. The tournament saw 88 players competing and with 57 re-entries, the prize pool jumped from the $30,000 guarantee to a whopping $40,600!
Like many of the PACOOP tournaments, the prize pool guaranteed was pushed up due to player participation. The series has been more popular than anticipated and the guarantees show just how much players want to take part in online poker gaming.
In this event, it was Dynasty0304 who earned the win, defeating MrManayunk in heads-up play. Dynasty0304 earned $8,586.02 for his efforts while MrManayunk took home just over $6,200.
One event players have been waiting for started last night. The first-ever six figure guaranteed prize pool tournament kicked off at 17:00 ET and should be the most impressive event of the series. The Main Event will have a $125,000 guaranteed prize pool and a $300 buy-in.
Players will be able to take part in late registration for the first five hours and 30 minutes of gameplay. Up to five re-entries are allowed. The event will run over two days and will conclude on the 16th. Players had the option to compete in satellites on the 15th to earn a seat to the big tournament at a much lower buy-in.
The Mega Satellite cost only $50 to compete and offered 25 guaranteed seats to the Main Event. A Deadline Satellite was the last chance, offering 10 seats with a $50 buy-in as well.
It will be interesting to see the turnout for the Main Event. It is expected that the tournament will see a massive number of players competing and the prize pool moving well above the guaranteed $125,000 price point!
