Although there’s been no formal announcement from the Winning Poker Network, there will be a second Venom event with a $6M guarantee at the end of the year.
At 5:00pm ET this evening, the Final Table of the inaugural Venom will play down to a winner. The surviving eight players have already locked up $73,000 for reaching the Final Table, and now all eight have a shot at taking home the first prize of just over a million dollars. The Winning Poker Network has said it will pay the winning player within minutes of the final hand being dealt.
However, ever before the inaugural Venom plays its final hand, players at sites on the Winning Poker Network can start getting excited about the next multi-million dollar event – one which will have an even bigger guaranteed prize pool of $6 million.
Venom II will take place from Wednesday 27th November to Wednesday 11th December and is slightly changed from its predecessor.
Lessons Learned from Venom I
Despite the current Venom event being a massive success, there´s always room for improvement; and the Network has clearly listened to players´ feedback in the preparation of Venom II. Consequently, rather than three opening flights, Venom II will have four shorter Day 1s of twenty-eight levels each. This should ensure play concludes within twelve hours taking breaks into account. The four Day 1s are scheduled for:
- Wednesday 27th November
- Sunday 1st December
- Wednesday 4th December
- Sunday 8th December
As before, players will be able to enter multiple Day 1s and carry their largest chip stack into Day 2 on Monday 9th December. A provision Day 3 is scheduled for Tuesday 10th December if the Final Table is not reached on Day 2, and the Final Table will take place on Wednesday 11th December. The winner is yet again guaranteed a first place prize of $1 million, although with more opening flights – and four months to qualify for them – the final first place prize money should amount to a lot more.
Why Announce Venom II Now?
Officially, Venom II has not yet been announced, and I´m sure the Network would have been far happier to delay the announcement until after tonight´s Final Table. However, there are a lot of players who tried to qualify for Venom I via the Steps promotion who still have unused tickets; and, because of the unique buy-in structure of the Steps promotion, the values of the unused tickets don´t match any other events in the Winning Poker Network´s tournament or Sit & Go schedule.
Consequently, the Venom Steps promotion is continuing throughout the rest of the year in order to give players with unused tickets the chance to ladder them up into a seat in Venom II. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the freeroll level has been taken away for the present – meaning that some of the higher level Steps may be a little slow to start. Nonetheless the Steps promotion still represents one of the best ways to win a seat in a valuable event for practically no buy-in.
Missing the Venom Freerolls? Try These Instead
Despite the removal of the freeroll Venom Steps level, it is still possible to go from zero to hero during the current OSS Cub3d series. As usual during big tournament series at the Winning Poker Network, USAFriendlyPokerSites.com is running freeroll tournaments which give readers the opportunity to win seats in big events or in mega-satellites that feed into even bigger events. There are three notable [geolink href=”https://www.usafriendlypokersites.com/wpn-freebuy-passwords/”]freeroll tournaments[/geolink] coming up you should really make time to play in:
- This coming Sunday (27th July), the USAFriendlyPokerSites MOSS Freeroll will award four seats directly into the MOSS Main Event later that day. The seats each have a value of $88, and the target event´s guaranteed prize pool is $300,000.
- On the morning of Sunday 11th August, the USAFriendlyPokerSites OSS Freeroll will award the top four players with a seat into a Mega-Satellite for the million dollar guaranteed OSS Main Event. The freeroll, the Mega-Satellite, and the Main Event all happen on the same day.
- Then, on Saturday 17th August, the USAFriendlyPokerSites BOSS Freeroll gives two players the chance of winning seats into the BOSS Mega-Satellite the following morning. The BOSS Mega-Satellite will award six seats into the BOSS Main Event, which is also guaranteed for $1 million.
For this series of freeroll tournaments, there are no passwords required nor any options to pay for a re-buy or add-on during the tournaments. Therefore they are likely to be extremely popular, and entry for each freeroll is capped at two thousand players. Finally, the freerolls are only available to players at Black Chip Poker and Americas Cardroom. If you don´t have an account with one of these sites, read my Black Chip Poker review and Americas Cardroom review and choose which option is best for you.
