Caesars Entertainment plans to open a land-based casino that will be located in Southern Indiana in December. It is actually a rebranded Horseshoe Southern Indiana riverboat casino, except that it will now be on land and will be rebranded as Caesars.
The land-based attraction is scheduled to open in less than a month. The officials from Caesars will gather on Dec. 9 and officially close the riverboat called Glory of Rome, which hosted the gaming facility located on the Ohio River.
Only three days after that, they will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony where they plan to celebrate the opening of the newest Caesars-branded venue. It will feature a huge gaming space, with more than 80,000 square feet located on a single level.
People passing by can already notice that there are some signs related to Caesars in the area. The last Horseshoe signage was taken down last week, which was located in the parking garage of the casino in Elizabeth, Ind. The casino opened back in 1998, and it was then branded as Caesars Indiana.
The senior vice president and general manager for Caesars, Brad Siegel, stated that the rebranding would help the company capitalize further on their $90 million investment into the facility.
The new casino operated by Caesars Entertainment will be somewhat different than its former riverboat counterpart. First of all, the total number of poker tables will be reduced compared to the number of tables on the riverboat casino.
Moreover, according to Siegel, the casino will feature approximately 1,200 slot machines, 70 table games, and a total of 16 poker tables. This is also a bit less than the numbers on the riverboat casino, which had a total of 1,556 slots and 103 table games, which were located on four floors of the casino. Moreover, it also had a total of 30 poker room tables.
Successful Stint
Last month, Horseshoe had really great success, as it managed to amass almost $16 million, which is the largest amount of money ever recorded by a single casino for one month in any of the six southern casinos in Indiana. In fact, during the period of January-October 2019, the casino paid more than $14.2 million in taxes, which is yet another record set when compared to other Southern Indiana casinos.
The Ceasars casino is definitely a bit smaller when compared to Horseshoe, but not all parts will be smaller. In fact, the only area that is planned to be bigger is the sportsbook, which will be an inevitable part of the facility due to the rising popularity of this activity.
Betting on sports became legal this September in Indiana, meaning its residents will now be able to place bets on their favorite games by visiting Caesars’ casino (and sportsbook).
The riverboat also offered a sort of sportsbook. However, it was just a temporary solution that wouldn’t have been big enough for the increasing demand for this activity.
All things summed up, the new Caesars’ facility will take up a total of 110,000 square feet, and it will include entertainment, gaming, and dining services.
However, the work doesn’t stop there, according to Siegel. He stated that once the facility opens, there would be an additional four months of work that would further improve the complex. During those four months, Caesars will work on a new restaurant, a pizzeria, and will renovate the pedway area that connects the casino and the hotel.
Finally, one of the most important additions that art lovers are going to enjoy is the statue of Augustus Caesar, which is currently being made in Las Vegas.
