While we continue to wait for a ruling that would allow PokerStars to operate in New Jersey, will the gaming giant offer lottery-style SitNGos if approved?
Rumors have been circulating that PokerStars may indeed introduce the jackpot Spin & Go games first made popular by French-facing site Winamax with Expresso Poker. The quick-paced action of lottery SitNGos has made a huge impact on the ecology of poker rooms, siphoning players who normally play at cash tables.
It is debateable whether or not such an offering would be viable in the small New Jersey market, as the state’s online poker player pool is currently severely restricted without any interstate partnerships in place. However, offering a popular game that competing poker rooms in New Jersey do not certainly makes good business sense when attempting to grab market share as a late entry to the game.
Lottery SitNGo Options in U.S.
Players in the U.S. do have an option to play lottery-style SitNGos. The only network that offers the game is the Winning Poker Network (WPN), featuring poker rooms such as Black Chip Poker, Americas Cardroom and Ya Poker.
WPN rolled out Jackpot Poker earlier this spring, much to the delight of U.S. players who were clamoring to try the new game but could not due to the restrictions and lack of playing options since Black Friday. It was a wise decision on the part of WPN honchos, who certainly have been adept at giving U.S. players what they want.
Some American online poker players have been leery about depositing and playing at U.S. poker sites since 2011, but indications are that lottery SitNGos may have persuaded them to get online and play. So said the industry’s foremost tracker of online poker player traffic, PokerScout.
Jackpot Poker may have provided just enough incentive for some of these [fearful since Black Friday] players to abandon their trepidations and get back in the game,
the website reported.
Waiting game in NJ
We will have to wait and see if PokerStars makes lottery-style SitNGos available to New jersey players once the Division of Gaming Enforcement approves their license application as is expected. Don’t be surprised if they do offer the popular game, and don’t be surprised if the other NJ sites – Borgata, Partypoker, 888 and WSOP – do so as well to keep pace.
But if you are an online poker player in most of the other 50 states and have yet to try Jackpot Poker at WPN, it may be high time to do so. Players seem to love the hyper-turbo action, as well as the possibility of playing for a huge jackpot against only two other players.
