Daniel Negreanu’s First Triton Million Tournament Comes to an End

The World Series of Poker Paradise is in full swing, and many popular poker players have attended the event to make bank in the Bahamas. One of those famous poker players is Hall of Famer Daniel Negreanu, who will be participating in the Triton Million for the first time.

This year’s Triton event was a big one – the $500K buy-in Triton Million. He had a good showing in Day 1, and Day 2 saw the VIP and pro fields merged for the first time.

Another thing worth noting is that Negreanu is back to his daily vlogs, and his tournament runs for WSOP Paradise is one of the key events he is documenting.

The GGPoker Ambassador’s most recent vlog saw him prepare for his Bahamas trip – his video saw him at his home in Las Vegas where viewers get to see him pack, have some quality time with his wife, and then arrive in the Bahamas.

Negreanu’s Run in Triton Million

During Day 1 of the WSOP Triton Million event, Negreanu was going to work and climbing up the ranks. He mentioned in his vlog about the crucial hands he got during the Million against Juan Pardo, with the third one that Negreanu called the “big one.”

With 10,000/15,000 blinds and a 15,000 BB ante, Pardo raises to 35,000 from the hijack, Negreanu three-bets to 80,000 with QH and JS and Pardo calls to the QC, 8C, and 5D flop, where the action goes check-check.

The 4C turn brings in the flush draw, and Pardo bets 150,000, which Negreanu calls to the 6H river. Negreanu’s plays were enough to keep him afloat and raring to go for Day 2 of the Triton Million.

However, Lady Luck wasn’t smiling Negreanu’s way. On Level 12 of the Tournament (15,000/30,000/30,000), Negreanu went head-to-head against Kayhan Mokri.

Morki opened to 65,000 in middle position and there was a call in between before Negreanu three-bet to 225,000 in the big blind. Mokri four-bet all in and Negreanu pulled out his selfie stick before announcing “Sometimes you gotta gamble,” and calling it.

Negreanu’s hand was AC, KC, while Mokri’s hand was KS, KD. The dealer went for the flop which resulted in 4S, 10C, 5D, and the turn and river went 7D and JS. In the end, Mokri’s pocket kings were enough to beat Negreanu’s hand, and this was where the poker legend’s Triton Million Run ended on a whimper.
