The World Series of Poker continues to host some big events to begin 2024, and there are some players that always seem to stand out. Hamid Izadi is one of the players that always seems to have some success on the circuit, and that has been the case this year as well.
At the WSOPC event at Harrah’s Pompano Beach, Izadi was able to come up with another win, adding to his already impressive resume. Winning on the WSOPC just one time is no small feat, but the resident of Georgia had already done that six times in his career.
That number is now up to a lucky number seven as Izadi was able to win the $1,700 buy-in no limit hold’em event on the circuit. Picking up win number seven was impressive, but so too was the $245,225 prize that was handed down.
There were 917 total entries in that event, and the win just proves that he is a legend when it comes to live poker events. With the big win down at Pompano Beach, Izadi has now won over $1.6 million while playing poker on the WSOPC.
WSOPC Continues to be Popular
This was actually the second win on the WSOPC Tour for Izadi this year as he was able to pick up a win down in Tunica, Mississippi in January. Winning money is a massive prize for the poker player, but he also racked up nearly 1,000 points in the race to be Card Player of the Year.
Global Poker keeps track of these standings, and Izadi is currently sitting in 22nd place, and there is plenty of time to catch up. Initially, there was a $1 million prize guarantee for this event, but that number went up to nearly $1.4 million based on the number of entries.
While many players are turning to online poker action. The WSOPC continues to prove that there is a thirst for live poker games. Everyone that finished in the top 102 were able to take home some prize money at this event, and that also led to a large pool of players.
This was a long event as Izadi had to get through his own flight, before also trying to survive another full day of poker action. When it came time for the final table, there were just seven players in contention to get that done.
A Look at the Other Finishers
Izadi was able to walk away with the biggest prize in this event, but others went home with a good chunk of change as well. Boris Kasabov looked like he was going to challenge Izadi all the way until the end, but he ended up with $151,651 and a second-place finish.
Barbara Sargent was the final player eliminated before getting to the final table, but she still took home $28,767 with an eight-place finish. Michael Lydon has been a name to watch on the WSOPC, and he walked away with $83,000 in this tournament.
