Some U.S. residents can play poker at regulated rooms such as BetMGM, World Series of Poker (WSOP), and PokerStars, among many others. The poker rooms have joined their international sisters in offering big tournaments in September featuring massive guarantees. Some of these sites have schedules extending to October.
Poker players in Pennsylvania, Michigan, New Jersey, and Nevada have so much to look forward to, as there are many events to participate in and win big. Here is what to expect from the World Series of Poker, PokerStars, and BetMGM.
World Series of Poker September Events
WSOP online poker room is available in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Action poker started on September 10, with the schedule extending into October 18, 2022.
The buy-ins for September-October events vary from one state to another. However, they range between $365 and $10,000. There are a minimum of five events each week, with two of these scheduled for every Sunday.
The goal for playing these games is one. Win a gold bracelet and a seat at the 2023 WSOP Tournament of Champions. None of the tournaments has prize pool guarantees.
PokerStars COOPs
Championship of Online Poker (COOP) originated from PokerStars` worldwide site. The poker room introduced the poker series in the regulated U.S.markets, producing NJCOOP for Garden State, PACOOP for Pennsylvania, and MICOOP for Michigan.
These COOP series returned last weekend and are scheduled to run through 18 days. NJ, PA, and MI residents have over 200 COOP tournaments and over $4 million in the prize pool to win. The events will wrap up on September 26.
With as low as $20, players can enter tournaments. Alternatively, you can play satellites for as low as $2 to qualify for the COOP events. Players can also play Spin & Gos for as little as $3 or daily freeroll.
Each state will have the Main Event with a huge guaranteed prize pool. With a buy-in of $300, Main Events finalists will win $225k in Pennsylvania, $150k in Michigan, and $100k in New Jersey. Finalists for all events will win a Platinum Pass comprising a $30k prize package that will send players to the Bahamas in 2023 for the Poker Players No Limit Hold’em Championship.
BetMGM
This is the first time BetMGM is running Poker State Championships in three jurisdictions since it launched in Michigan. Earlier, BetMGM hosted a live event at the ARIA in Las Vegas. The poker operator plans to build on that event by offering 26 matches between September 15 and 25.
With as little as $5, you can play qualifiers to enter the main schedule. Alternatively, you can buy-in with $100 to play different poker variations during the program. Players registering for the tournament before September 25 might get their buy-in refunded in an early bird registration promotion.
Tournaments are running simultaneously in Great Lake State, Garden State, and Keystone State. While the guarantees differ for each state, the buy-ins are the same.
There is no Main Event title to conclude the tournament. Instead, players will play the No-Limit Hold`em 8-Max Championship on the last day of the schedule. The event has a $1,000 buy-in in each state with a guaranteed prize pool of $250k in New Jersey, $200k in Michigan, and $150k in Pennsylvania.
