Giants Looking to Begin Miraculous Run

The 2021 NFL season hasn’t been anything special for the Giants, proven by their 3-6 record. However, there are still eight games left to play and a lot could happen in that span. The Giants have won two of their last three games — their best stretch of the season — and could begin a miraculous playoff run if they can upset set the Buccaneers in Monday Night Football.

New York could be getting an offensive boost in the form of Saquon Barkley. The fourth-year running back has been sidelined since Oct. 10 with an ankle injury. However, he practiced all of last week and is expected to play tonight. He’s averaged 13.6 touches per game this season for 325 total yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in five contests.

While the Buccaneers do have the best offense in the league, their defense leaves a lot to be desired — especially their secondary. Tampa Bay is giving up 254.2 passing yards per game this season, which ranks eighth-worst in the NFL. New York will be without Sterling Shepard again, so the Giants will look to pass-catchers like Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay and Evan Engram to step up and get things done. The Buccaneers just lost to the Washington Football Team last week, so anything is possible in Week 11’s Monday Night Football matchup.

Monday Night Football: Buccaneers Aim to End Streak

While the Buccaneers started the season with a 6-1 start, the defending Super Bowl champions have lost each of their last two games by a combined score of 65-46. Normally, people would think that a game against the Giants would be a walk in the park, however, the same could’ve been said last week when Tampa Bay played Washington. Obviously, WFT has a bit better roster than New York, however, it still goes to show that the Buccaneers need to play better tonight.

Having Tom Brady bounce back will be one way to help secure the victory. He completed just 67.7% of his passes last week for 220 yards and two touchdowns while throwing his third and fourth interceptions in his last two games. He’ll be without Antonio Brown again, however, there’s a chance that he could be getting Rob Gronkowski back in the fold. The veteran tight end has only played six snaps since Week 3 as he deals with a back injury.

The Buccaneers will also need to figure out how to deal with an injured defense. Defensive lineman Vita Vea (knee) is doubtful for the contest while Rakeem Nunez-Roches (ankle) is questionable. Beyond the d-line, outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul’s status is up in the air after sitting out of Saturday’s practice with an upper-body injury.

While some of the above players could end up playing, there’s a possibility that they don’t. Either way, Tampa Bay’s defenders need to step up more than they have as of late to keep the Giants’ hope for victory at an all-time low.
