There are about 20 games left in the 2020-21 NBA Season for most teams around the league. It’s hard to imagine, but we’re just a few months away from crowning this season’s NBA Champions.
A lot of things can change by the time the Larry O’Brien Trophy is won, especially considering there’s a sizeable part of the regular season left to play. Sports betting can help add excitement to these times, especially the more unique prop bets and specials that are out there.
One unique market available on Bovada has to do with whether or not any player will average a triple-double by the end of the season. As it stands, they’re leaning towards Washington Wizards guard Russell Westbrook to be the only player to average one on the NBA season. His odds of doing so are -250.
The odds of no one averaging a triple-double sit at +175, making it the next likeliest outcome.

- Russell Westbrook -250
- No one will average a triple-double +175
- Nikola Jokic +400
- James Harden +400
- Luka Doncic +950
Westbrook Favored to Average Triple-Double this NBA Season
At -250, Westbrook has the best odds out of all NBA players to average a triple-double this season. He’s done it before, accomplishing the feat three times in a row from 2016-2019. While he didn’t manage to hit the mark last season, Westbrook is back at it again in 2021. As of April 9, he’s currently averaging a 21.8/10.5/10.6 triple-double.
Westbrook has played 14 NBA games since March 13. During that time span, he’s recorded 10 triple-doubles. People were questioning Westbrook after he and the Wizards had a slow start to the season, but he’s been warming up as of late. Considering he’s already averaging a triple-double, it won’t be hard for him to maintain it if he keeps up his current play.
Can Jokic, Harden Accomplish the Task?
Nikola Jokic and James Harden have the next best odds out of all players to average a triple-double at +400.
Jokic is one of the best centers in the league, if not the very best. His playmaking talents typically see him put up a couple of triple-doubles throughout the season. However, he’s never finished the year averaging one. So far in the 2020-21 NBA Season, Jokic is averaging 26.3/10.9/8.7. While he’s close, he still needs to get his assist totals up. His 8.7 assists per game is a career-high, but Jokic has yet to average double digits in this column.
Even though Harden has averaged a double-double over the last three seasons, he’s never averaged a triple-double. He’s currently averaging 25.4 points and 11.0 assists per game, but his average rebound total is 8.7. To reach the triple-double mark, Harden would have to have some crazy rebounding numbers to finish the season.
How Close is Doncic to Averaging a Triple-Double in the 2020-21 NBA Season?
Make no mistake about this: Luka Doncic will be one of the best players in the NBA for years to come. However, he only stands at +950 odds to average a triple-double this season.
Currently, Doncic is averaging 28.5/8.2/8.7. He’ll need to get his rebounding and assist numbers up by a bit, which is easier said than done, but Doncic is capable of some mind-blowing things. As it stands, he’s the only player in NBA history to record 20 triple-doubles at the age of 21 or younger. While it might be hard to hit the mark, Doncic has the talent to go on a tear to end the season, possibly putting up more video game-like numbers.
