We’re almost at the middle of February, which means NHL teams are anywhere between 20 to 25 percent finished their 56-game schedule.
From the Toronto Maple Leafs currently sitting atop the league to Connor McDavid reasserting his dominance on his way to another potential Art Ross season, a lot of factors and storylines have impacted odds across the NHL.
Below are Bovada’s updated odds for the major NHL odds markets, from individual player awards to the Stanley Cup favorites.
Odds to Win the Stanley Cup

As of Jan. 12, right before the season began, Bovada had the Colorado Avalanche as the favorites to hoist the Stanley Cup at +650 odds.
They’ve started off 7-3-1, but the Tampa Bay Lightning’s 9-1-1 record has given them a bit of a boost to catch the Avalanche. To make it more impressive, the defending champions have done it without Nikita Kucherov, who’s expected to miss the entire season.
One of the bigger jumps was made by the Montreal Canadiens. Most sportsbooks had their opening odds anywhere around +5000, but their 8-3-2 start has pushed them up to +1100.
Odds to Win the Hart Memorial Trophy

It seems like if McDavid is eligible for an award, he’s one of the favorites to win it. He’s second in goals (nine), and first in assists (18) and points (27). His Oilers also sit third in the North Division thanks to his and Leon Draisaitl’s play.
Artemi Panarin is an interesting case. He has 15 points for the Rangers, but the team is 4-5-3 and outside of a playoff spot. A non-playoff team player hasn’t won the Hart Trophy since 1987-88.
Someone who has a good chance to move up the rankings is Auston Matthews. He’s leading the league in goals (11) and the Maple Leafs are first in the NHL. No one knows if either pace is sustainable yet, but Matthews is certainly having an MVP-caliber year so far.

McDavid is having such a good season (27 points, 15 games) that if this was an 82-game season, he’d be on pace for 148 points — something that hasn’t been done since Mario Lemieux stacked up 69 goals and 92 assists during the 1995-96 season.
This race could come down to a battle between teammates as Leon Draisaitl only trails McDavid by two points.
While there’s a lot of time for things to change, the only one on the list who’s close to the Oilers teammates in points is Mitch Marner, who’s sitting at 21 points in 14 games.
Odds to Win the Calder Memorial Trophy

Kirill Kaprizov has made a jump into first place after leading all rookies with nine points. The Minnesota Wild forward played five seasons in the KHL after being drafted and it looks like it’s paid off.
One of the biggest surprises is that 2020 No. 1 overall pick Alexis Lafreniere has only recorded one point in 12 games for the Rangers. The season’s still young, so he could gain confidence soon.
Defenseman Ty Smith has also seen major movement, shifting from +5500 to +600 thanks to impressive work on the Devils blue line. Eight points in nine games as a 20-year-old defenseman is nothing to balk at.

Last season, Cale Makar won the Calder Trophy. This season, he’s leading the race for best defenseman in the NHL. Not only does he have 12 points in 11 games, but he also leads or is near the top of most advance stats for defensemen.
Out of everyone in the Top 5 odds, Shea Theodore has seen the biggest bump (other than Makar) from +2000 to +1200. He’s been the Anaheim Ducks best d-man and it seems like he’s getting better every year.

Matthews opened the season with the best odds at scoring the most goals in the NHL, but no one imagined that he’d have 11 goals in 14 games. It was at the point where he even had scored in eight straight games.
Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak’s odds have gone from +2000 to +800 despite only having five goals in as many games.
A big drop has been Alexander Ovechkin. He missed four games due to COVID-19 protocol, so his odds of winning another Richard Trophy drop from +550 to +1200.
