Intertops is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Woodstock on Sunday with a $2,000 guaranteed tournament, and giving players the chance to qualify for free.
Over the weekend of August 15th to August 18th 1969, more than four hundred thousand people attended the Woodstock Music and Art Fair on a New York dairy farm. The event was one of the biggest rock festivals of all time due to artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, and Santana performing, and it was later acknowledged as one of the top twenty events that changed the history of rock and roll.
To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Woodstock Festival, Intertops Poker is hosting a $2,000 guaranteed tournament this coming Sunday – August 18th.
The event has a direct buy-in of $16.50, and players can win their seats in daily satellites with a buy-in of just $1.10, or in special password-protected Woodstock Freerolls that get underway tomorrow evening.
More about the Woodstock Celebration Tournament
The Woodstock Celebration Tournament gets underway at 7:00pm (all times ET). Up to 99 rebuys of 2,000 chips (the same as the starting stack) are allowed during the ninety minutes of late registration, after which players have the option of purchasing a 3,000 chip add-on. Buying-in at the last minute is not recommended because, by the end of late registration, the blinds will be 600/1,200 (ante 120).
Players looking to satellite into the Woodstock Celebration Tournament have three options. Daily PL Omaha satellites scheduled for 11:05am each morning and daily NL Hold´em satellites scheduled for 4:05pm both have buy-ins of $1.10 and are rebuy and add-on events guaranteeing one seat in the target tournament. Late registration for both paid-for satellites lasts one hour.
The third option is a password protected Woodstock Freeroll taking place at 7:05am every morning. The NL Hold´em freeroll has a hyper-turbo structure (so plenty of time to win a seat before going to work) and the password can be obtained by speaking to Intertops customer support on the day each freeroll takes place (I have no doubt it will be all over Twitter as well by 7:00am).

Inasmuch as you will have reason to celebrate if you take down the Woodstock Celebration Tournament, you could also be looking forward to a trip to St. Maarten for the Caribbean Poker Tour Main Event if the cards fall right for you this Sunday. The Final Qualifier follows the usual pattern of a $110 buy-in NL Hold´em tournament that gets underway at 3:05pm on Sunday afternoon. If you want to qualify in advance for the Final, Step 1 and Step 2 satellites with buy-ins of $1.10 and $13.20 respectively are already running at Intertops Poker; plus there will be two last minute satellites with buy-ins of $11 on Sunday lunchtime.
There is also a freeroll route into the St. Maarten Final Qualifier – and if you though the Woodstock Freerolls were early, wait until you read this. The freeroll satellite into the St. Maarten Final Qualifier is scheduled for 6:00am on Sunday morning. If you can lift your head from your pillow at this early hour, you might find a much smaller-than-usual field feeding into the potentially valuable Final.
