Intertops Poker has released details of the special events the site will be hosting over Christmas and the New Year to celebrate Poker Holiday Season.
Intertops Poker is rebranding Christmas and the New Year as “Poker Holiday Season” this year, and is giving players every opportunity to experience joy and happiness over the festive period by hosting a series of extra poker tournaments from Christmas Eve through to Twelfth Night (January 6th).
Compared to Intertops´ usual tournament schedule, the extra events have quite decent guaranteed prize pools; and, when you consider that many players will not be able to take part in the tournaments due to family commitments, there is a fair likelihood to be some value in terms of overlays.
A further reason why some of the events may be under-subscribed is because several of the start times are inconvenient for players in Europe (where a significant portion of Intertops´ player database is located). For example, the Christmas Eve KO tournament starts at 7:15pm (EST), which 1:15am on Christmas Day morning in Central Europe.
The Poker Holiday Season Schedule
The Poker Holiday Season schedule kicks off with the previously mentioned knockout tournament at 7:15pm (EST) on December 24th. It has a buy-in of $3.30 – of which $1.00 is the bounty on each players´ head – and a guaranteed prize pool of $300. Late registration is open for just thirty minutes.
The feature tournament on Christmas Day is a $5.50 buy-in event at 3:15pm (EST) with a $500 guarantee prize pool. This event has unlimited re-entries during the sixty minutes of late registration – after which the tournament has a freezeout format.
A second special tournament on Christmas Day is a $2.20 buy-in satellite to a $1,000 guaranteed hyper-turbo tournament on Boxing Day. The satellite starts at 7:05pm (EST – again inconvenient for European players) and guarantees three seats into the target event.
If you are unable to play in the Christmas Day satellite, you can buy-in directly to the Boxing Day tournament for $22.00. The event gets underway at 5:15pm (EST) and has ninety minutes of late registration, during which time two re-buys are allowed. At the end of late registration there is also an optional add-on.
The next event in the Poker Holiday Season schedule takes place on Saturday 28th December, when Intertops Poker will be hosting an “Old to the New” 6-Max Re-buy and Add-on PLO tournament at 2:15pm (EST). The tournament has a buy-in of $2.20 and a guaranteed prize pool of $200.
Then, on New Year´s Eve, Intertops will be running a special freeroll giving away a seat to its $2,000 guaranteed tournament on New Year´s Day. The freeroll will be password protected, and the password will be announced via email and Twitter shortly before the 4:15pm (EST) start time.
There is a second opportunity to qualify for Intertops´ $2,000 guaranteed New Year´s Day tournament in a $2.20 buy-in satellite at 11:05am (EST) on January 1st, before the feature event gets underway at 5:00pm (EST). The target event can be bought into directly for a buy-in of $55.00.
Finally, on January 6th, Intertops Poker is giving players another opportunity to win a package to the WSOPC Caribbean Main Event in St. Maarten in March. The prize is up for grabs in a $110.00 buy-in tournament at 4:00pm (EST), prior to which there will be a “Three Kings on the Beach” satellite (at 11:05am) with a buy-in of $2.20. The site is also expected to run a Steps qualifying program as well.
